about

Imaginative, compassionate and deeply reflective

I will hold a confidential, safe and boundaried space where we can explore whatever is difficult, helping you to find your own ways to think about what is painful and distressing.

No matter what you're going through, the aim of our work is to help you make sense of it and, together, explore what might help move your life in a new direction.

My Background

I trained and qualified on the highly regarded Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy programme at Brighton University. I maintain a very close working relationship with the psychotherapy department so that my work is informed by the broadest thinking and latest research.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). For my work with young people, I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

Psychodynamic therapy

Psychodynamic therapy is founded on the understanding that our early life experiences - especially those in childhood - shape how we relate to ourselves, and others, later in life.  The ways we learned to respond to those early relationships can influence how we feel, think, and behave in the present, often outside of our conscious awareness.

Sometimes, the challenges we face today reflect inner conflicts or unresolved emotions that have been pushed out of awareness, often as a way of coping at the time. These patterns, while once protective, may no longer serve us - and can leave us feeling stuck or unsure of why we react the way we do.

In psychodynamic therapy, we work together to gently explore these deeper layers. By making space to reflect on your inner world and past experiences, we begin to bring unconscious thoughts and feelings into awareness. This process allows us to uncover and understand old wounds, hidden losses, and unprocessed emotions.

Through this collaborative work, psychodynamic therapy offers the possibility for meaningful insight and emotional growth - helping you move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.

you

You may have a clear sense of why you are looking to therapy.  Perhaps depression and anxiety are weighing too heavily and the burden you carry day to day is too great.  There might be patterns of behaviour you keep repeating which bring you pain.

You may not have a clear sense of why you are looking here.  You may have a sense of disquiet, that something isn't right and is getting in the way of your life.

People come to me with a wide range of concerns.  Perhaps you see yourself in some of the issues below.  Perhaps you don't.  However you understand yourself, I will meet you as an individual with your own story.

Depression

Wealth

Bereavement

Neurodiversity

Anxiety

Relationship Issues

Panic Attacks

Racism

Feeling Lost

services & fees

My practice is located in Brighton, near Queen's Park, where I offer one-to-one therapy for adults and young people. I work from a quiet therapy room - a private space designed to feel calm and contained from the moment you arrive. There’s parking nearby and good transport connections if you’re coming by train or bus. For those who prefer or need to connect remotely, I also offer secure online sessions.

On contacting me, we can arrange a free initial phone call where we can talk about what has brought you to therapy. Our conversation is an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a feeling of how I work.

A strong relationship with your therapist is at the heart of meaningful change. I encourage you to meet with more than one therapist so you can gain a sense of the different ways people work and find someone who you feel comfortable and connected with.

Please get in touch below to find out more or to arrange an initial phone call.

Open Ended Work

Open ended work will see us meet for 50 minutes at the same time every week.  There will not be an end date for our work together: we will finish when we feel it is time to stop.  We will regularly review how our work is going.  There is no obligation to keep coming.

Short Term Work

From 6 to 12 weeks in length, short term work is most often focused on a particular issue.
